A whole new crop of online magazines seem to have come out in the last couple years, but Rue has been and stayed at the top of my list. It's a beautiful publication focusing on interiors and entertaining, with a generous dose of style and design. A stellar team of ladies is behind the magazine, including Anne Sage, Cassandra Lavalle, Bri Emery, lead by the exceptionally talented and sweet Crystal Gentiello.
The visionary and highly regarded product designer Dieter Rams developed these 10 principles of design as a way of evaluating what design is good design. Though these principles we developed in the 80s, they still feel exceptionally true today, as well as inspiring.
Nicole Meyer has set out to design a logo for a Minnesota lake, every day. There are about 10,000 lakes, so she won't be running out of subjects anytime soon. She posts her daily logos to her site Branding 10,000 Lakes, which is great for browsing and typography inspiration.
In addition to being a beautiful photographer, Bonnie Tsang is a prolific photo bloggger, with a great eye for style. I'm always inspired while browsing her collection of photographs on her style blog, as well as her own photographs of everything from beautiful scenery to food to friends.
I'm in love with Sasha's stunning hand lettering and watercolor patterns. The rich textures, colors, and detailed illustrations get this designer's heart beating faster.
I've been inspired to create my own photo blog. A collection of photographs that I love too much to part with. Hope you enjoy.

A couple inspiring blogs full of beautiful, curated photos.
Sunday Suppers is a site full of yummy recipes with local and organic ingredients, beautiful food styling, and other lovely design elements, created by stylist and photographer Karen Mordechai.
I came across the Kate Spade book, Things We Love: Inpirations, Intriguing Bits and Other Curiosities, on the counter in a Kate Spade store, and fell in love. Much to my disappointment the sales woman said the book was only distributed internally, but I was excited to recently come across some images from the book on FeltandWire.com. Enjoy.
My friend Julia was fortunate enough to get to intern with food stylist Susie Theodorou. Her work is beautiful.
I love the look and feel of Sonoma's Scribe Winery, started by San Francisco local Andrew Mariani. Scribe's lovely, textured site is designed by one of my favorite New York firms Nothing Something, their wine labels are beautifully detailed, and the winery itself doesn't even look real with its palm tree lined drive and spanish style architecture. Hope to get the chance to visit and try some wine.
A fun, vibrant collection of photography by Amanda Pratt. Each of the photographs relates to the next “through a tread of color, a common gesture, or a shared emotion.”
These perfumes come in stunning ceramic bottles. I love the video describing the design of the bottle and how they're made. I can only imagine that they smell as luxurious as they look.
I love the work of designer Kate Arends, as well as her custom designed blog {Wit + Delight}, full of lovely fashion, photography, and design.
Beautiful design by Bestor Architecure. I love the way they blend interior and exterior spaces, as well as all the exposed wood.
Hoefler & Frere-Jones has been designing some of the most popular fonts around, including current favorites Gotham and Archer. Their site is also beautiful, with examples of vibrant and playful typography.
Love the organic feel of Dandelion Ranch's floral arrangements, as well as the blog of florist Bornay.
A few of my favorites...
Love the graphic style of Katie Kirk's illustrations, and her design firm EightHourDay does some great interactive and illustrative work.
An exceptional piece by Maira Kalman in The New York Times, exploring why we eat so much fast food and eat food so fast. All hand written with lots of great photographs. All the OpEd pieces in the “And the Pursuit of Happiness” series are worth viewing.
Beautiful, romantic illustration, typography, and design by Bay Area designer Cynthia Warren.
Really like the style of Karen Kurycki's watercolor work - fun and modern.
Designer Joy Cho's blog is one of my favorites, with inspiration, design, style and other cool things. Joy also designs beautiful note books and stationary.
An incredible collection of design inspiration. AMAZING work.
More beautiful watercolor illustrations. Vibrant colors and lovely line drawings.
Rifle Paper Co. is a boutique stationery brand and design studio run by Anna Bond, and her husband. Anna's designs are whimsical with beautifully scripted lettering and hand painted illustrations.
Paperwink sells these great rubber address stamps. Fun typography and lots of variations. I want one.
Stunning, rich prints and paintings. I especially like his diptychs, and of course his dinosaur print that glows in the dark.
Absolutely love. I think all of her illustrations are gorgeous, but I'm especially obsessed with her watercolor illustrations.
ISO 50 is the work of designer and musician Scott Hansen. His typography, textures, and colors leave me in awe. I could easily spend hours browsing his portfolio and blog. I've already pre-ordered Scott's Tycho single, Coastal Brake, just to frame the cover art.
A very cute idea. By subscribing to The Card Society you'll receive two one-of-a-kind letterpressed cards each month that arrive in your mailbox from Portland, Maine.
Beautiful prop stylists for clients such as Kate Spade and Martha Stewart.
I love Image Spark, the new site created by Teehan+Lax, to collect, share, and discover images. Its designed by creatives, for creatives - sexy, clean, super user-friendly.

Whimsical, charming, and sometimes off-beat photographs by Tim Walker.
Love the hand drawn style and typography on this package design for Jamie Oliver by Pearlfisher.
I get swept up in the NYT's Style section, and I particularly like these Profiles in Style collages. They're fun to navigate around, and there's always something inspirational. Here are links to two I especially like.
Love the geometric shapes used in this design for a fashion and textiles degree show. Design by Laura Southcott and Shaheena Pooloo.
The Jewels of New York was started by Diana Yen and Lisel Arroyo as a way to share the hidden treasures of New York. Their passion for lifestyle design and food brought them together, and they share gorgeous food photography with recipes to go along.
Beautiful organic cakes by Brooklyn-based baker Sarah Magid. Her logo and site are also cute with their crayon drawn style.
A truly creative, imaginative music video. And the song's beautiful too. (Thanks Em)
Beautiful, playful, modern calligraphy. I also really like the white ink on dark paper, and the postal stamps she uses.
Clever work from this french design firm, with a cool site to go along. I like how you can move the secondary navigation around the page, and the way some images fill the whole background. Wish the site was a little faster though.
Lines & Shapes is an independent art and design collective that produces these great artist books. Each volume is editioned and can be purchased. I might have to start collecting.
David Goldes' photographs are a mixture of science and art, and the product of an ever-exploring mind. I saw him speak recently at the San Francisco Art Institute and was inspired by his commitment to experimentation. You can view his photography on his website, but his photos are even more impactful on a larger scale. His Chain Reaction video is also worth checking out.
Because what's better?
Links to some beautiful french imagery. Hard to describe but there's something about the French that's just magnifique.
I like Gotch's site design, cute and playful. Her photostrips are fun, as well as her Polariod blog.
Once again nytimes.com delivers with beautiful photos of an intriguing travel destination. This Moroccan port city gave me even more of an itch to travel.
A great site educating people on how investing time, energy, and funding into adolescent girls can work towards ending poverty and helping the developing world. The cause seems intelligent and essential, and I love the opening video.
Atmospheric photography by Nicholas Hughes.
I love ted.com, and I send friends links to talks all the time, so I figured I would list some of my favorites below.
This New York Times writer gets the help of a high-end designer to help him plan a holiday party for less than $30 a head for food, décor, everything. The result is a festive and creative collaboration. You can also check out the designer, David Monn's website for some fantastical (though slightly less economical) party designs.
I love looking at these photographs of interesting people and their creative spaces by Todd Selby. Some of them are inspiring and others are just straight enviable. I've included links to a couple below.
Love this image by Marina Camargo, and there's some other cool explorations on her site.
So not only does it seem to not be so shockingly politcally incorrect to say Merry Christmas anymore, but people are finding creative ways to do it. I love this movie made by AKQA, putting a new twist on a very familiar Christmas tune.
ilove typography is a great resource with some inspiring design examples. Their font game is totally addictive!
Can low-tech eco-efficient design get much more desirable and inspirational than this? Love the interaction between the indoor and outdoor spaces.
Another great place to look for typography inspiration. Their sister photography site is worth checking out too, www.photographyserved.com.
Craig Ward's portfolio of inventive and labor intensive work (LOVE the paper cut-outs!). Really like the interactive nature of the Nike / YCN live letterpress piece posted on his site, www.wordsarepictures.co.uk/.
My favorite letterpress shop finally has a new site up with their products. Love their cards and wrapping paper.

Modern textile design and home furnishings. In addition to their products, I especially like the Explore Our Studio area of their site.
I really like these soft atmospheric landscapes of New York City. A beautiful perspective of a city often viewed as harsh. They're all oil and pencil on panel.
A curated collection of art and design images. If you like FFFFound check out this one too.
Robert Rauschenberg is one of my favorite modern artists, and I loved seeing his work while roaming the incredible New York MOMA. Breakthrough II, a lithograph printed in 1965, was one of the pieces I enjoyed seeing most.
This was another favorite of mine at the NY MOMA. There's a van Gogh exhibit there right now, van Gogh and the Colors of the Night, which must be amazing.
On November 4th VOOOTE!!!! And make sure your friends vote.
The We Feel Fine applet is a beautiful representation of human feelings expressed through use of the Internet. The design and usablity of the applet and site are admirable, and I think the concept is exceptional. I would love to see more projects like this, utilizing the Internet to understand eachother and ourselves better.
Another beautiful and totally inspiring representation of information pulled from the Internet, woven together to display stories and how they're connected. This applet allows for endless discovery, all lead by the user. I could sink into Universe and spend hours, if not days exploring.
A great collection of book cover designs. I love printed books, artist books, book stores, libraries... but I can't say much of this would be true without the cover art. How can you not judge a book by its cover?
...also happen to be some of my loves. Check out the fun collection of art and design inspiration that the Kate Spade team has put together under "Things We Love."
This is probably my favorite consumer site. Whether browsing the on-line boutique for the illustrations and the merchandise (which I wish I could afford!), or playing in the whimsical and inspiring "les ailes d'Hermes," this site always brings a smile to my face. A new form of retail therapy that doesn't require spending money or getting off the couch! I even heard they're coming out with scarfs inspired by Joseph Alber's Homage to the Square series. Ahhhh.....
I love their atmospheric textures and imagery.
I really like Stuart Hamilton's photography, particulary his landscapes. Take a look. There is also a nice interview with him on CommArts.com.
I loved this design excerise. The kind of thing idea that always sounds like a great project, but so rarely comes to fruition.
...well not likely. I’ve never actually been to the midwest aside from a couple airports. But this Minneapolis space is pretty darn cool.
A million dollars and a couple professors later, this NYC apartment is sleek, green, and gorgeous.
Viewing what other people have written and drawn in these journals is intriguing, inspiring, and definitely motivates me to write in my own.
